YunJae Jang — English Overview
Bio
I am an Assistant Professor and Dean of the School of Liberal Studies (Gangneung Campus) at Kangwon National University, Korea, and a researcher in computing education. I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science Education from Korea University in 2018. Before joining Kangwon National University in 2026, I was an Assistant Professor at Gangneung-Wonju National University (2025–2026) and Sahmyook University (2022–2025), and a Research Professor at Kyonggi University and Korea University.
Research
My research asks how to design learning experiences in which learners understand problems and create things through computing, and how to identify the competencies those experiences build. Beginning with studies of educational programming languages and learning styles, my work moved on to developing physical computing tools for schools, and now extends to AI education and the measurement of AI and digital literacy.
| Theme | Key question |
|---|---|
| Computing Education & Learning Tools | How should we teach learners to solve problems and create with computing, and what tools support them? |
| AI Education & AI Competency | What AI competencies do all learners need, and what kind of education develops them? |
| Digital Literacy & Assessment | How can we diagnose and measure students’ AI and digital literacy and their foundational competence in informatics? |
| Teacher Professional Development | What do informatics and AI teachers need, and how should professional development build their pedagogical content knowledge? |
